Hi!
Welcome! Spokane Preschools is home to statistics (more than a dozen for each school) and links (when available) for over 80 schools in the Greater Spokane and soon Northwestern Idaho areas. It's our priority to update schools annually. However, we've just begun our 2011 updating process so for the next few months you should call ALL schools you're interested in to verify that their information is accurate. Many have changed hours and prices, so give them a call before you add them to or ax them from your list. We hope to have current stats for all schools within the next few months - thanks for your patience! (BTW, if you represent a school send us an email and we'll work towards updating your page(s)).
Preschools from Cheney to Mead to South Hill to Idaho (soon!) are organized primarily by region (left side menu) and secondarily by type of school. These and all of our statistics are defined at the bottom of the menu to the left.
Several years after completing a B.A. with an elementary education major and not long after my son turned three, I started looking for a preschool program that would fit his unique needs and our unique budget and schedule. What I found was a mess of really great schools that were at best alphabetically organized. It took me days to weed out everything that wasn’t on the opposite side of town and weeks of phone calls to narrow that list down to schools I’d want to preview. This last year when I started searching for a school for my daughter I found myself in the same mess, and I decided to do something about it. You’re looking at the result.
At SpokanePreschools.com we strongly encourage parents to preview every school they think might be a good fit for their kiddo. (Worth noting we have also learned that there are a few preschools in the area operating without state licenses and we encourage you to ask a school directly if they are licensed. We're working on a section that explains the basics of licensing and how schools can operate without one so check back!) Statistics can help you narrow down the list based on your priorities, but you'll only know if a school is right for your family after you visit (as many times as you need to). Because every family is unique and every preschool is unique we do not endorse any of the school on this site, but we do cheer for all of them and the families they're supporting. Our bottom line: use this website to create a list of schools that fits your criteria then visit them all to see which one fits YOU.
Finally, this website is here FOR YOU (I’ve already found two preschools for my kids) so let me know what you think. I hope to maintain it for years to come, so let me know what else you’d like to see. Different/more school statistics? Different genre’s? Different regions? Let’s hear it.
